The Japanese Shortnose spurdog (Squalus brevirostris) is a dogfish shark in the family Squalidae. It is found from southern Japan to the South China Sea. The length of the longest specimen measured is 2 feet.

Average Size and Length: The maximum recorded length is 2 feet of an unsexed male.

Demographic, Distribution, Habitat, Environment and Range: They can be found in the western Pacific from southern Japan to the South China Sea. They are demersal at a depth range of between 0- 427 feet. They are known to occur from the continental shelves to sometimes depths greater than 427 feet.

Biology and Reproduction: The Japanese Shortnose spurdog is ovoviviparous. Not much else is known about its reproduction.

Behavioral Traits, Sensing and Intelligence: Unknown.
